Getting Involved in Grad School

Meet this week's Grad Chat guest, Caitlyn Cardetti:

Promotional Graphic - text reads Getting Involved in Grad School. # Grad Chat by PhD Balance. There are 2 headshots one of Aidan, the host & one of Caitlyn, the guest

Caitlyn (she/her) is a fifth and final year PhD candidate in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at Stony Brook University in New York. Her research is focused on mammalian mitochondrial RNA processing.

As she is finishing her graduate school career, she has been reflecting a lot on her experiences and realized how influential getting involved in Graduate Women in Science and Engineering (GWISE) and other extracurriculars have helped her succeed.

Getting involved has provided her with a supportive community and lifelong friends. With that, she wants to share what she has learned and encourage others that getting involved is not finding “extra” time but rather investing in themselves and their well-being.

You can find out more about Caitlyn on her Twitter (@CaitlynCardetti).
